What does it take to create a virtual world that people can feel part of and offer a sense of being somewhere distant, imaginary, or impossible to reach? In virtual reality, this question brings artistic choices into conversation with scientific research on perception, interaction, and user experience.

This talk offers a look inside a VR research lab, exploring how the design of virtual environments and virtual bodies influences our actions and decisions. It considers how this understanding can influence the way we shape (virtual) worlds through art and technology.
