Agata Soccini

Agata M. Soccini, PhD, is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Torino, Italy, where she heads the Virtual Reality Lab and supervises Master’s and PhD students. Educated in Italy, California, and Japan, she works at the intersection of science, technology, and art.
Her research interests include virtual humans and embodied self-avatars, interaction in virtual reality, and AI-based 3D modeling. Her work includes virtual reality projects for the European Space Agency, visual effects for feature films, and artistic productions.
She has authored several scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings, including SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia. Her work has been exhibited at major museums including Fondazione Prada and GAM. She has also written essays on the relationship between virtual reality and art for institutions including Museum Ludwig, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and Fondation Beyeler.
