Mr Sanjay Jaju is a senior career bureaucrat from the Indian Admministrative Services with over three decades of experience spanning economic development, technology, infrastructure, digital governance, media and the creative industries.
He has held several senior leadership positions in the Government of India and the State Government, most recently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. In this role, he was closely involved in advancing India’s media and entertainment ecosystem, including animation, visual effects, gaming, extended reality, film, broadcasting and digital content. He played a key role in shaping WAVES – the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit, India’s flagship global platform connecting content creators, studios, technology companies, investors and international markets. He also championed the growth of India’s Orange Economy, creative technologies and AVGC-XR ecosystem, including initiatives to strengthen skills, global partnerships and market access.
Earlier in his career, he held important assignments across digital transformation and public infrastructure and was closely associated with pioneering citizen-service initiatives such as MeeSeva, which became a widely recognised model for technology-enabled public service delivery.
He currently serves as Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, while also overseeing the State’s Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, Electronics & Communications portfolios. His experience at the intersection of government, technology, investment and the creative economy provides strategic leadership to Telangana’s ambition of becoming a leading global destination for AVGC, media, entertainment and digital creative industries.
