Peter Timberlake
Overall Production VFX Supervisor, Obsession, Queen Studio
Peter is the founder of Queen Studio, an independent visual effects company built around the idea that ambitious work doesn't necessarily require an enormous post-production organization.
He founded Queen as an experiment in building a different kind of VFX company: a deliberately small, highly specialized "micro-farm" capable of taking on work traditionally associated with much larger facilities. Rather than scaling through headcount, they focus on great artists, great training, documentation, thoughtful management, efficient technology, and exceptionally clean workflows.
He is fascinated by the way post-production gets done, and spends a lot of time questioning established processes, removing unnecessary complexity, and finding ways for small teams to do more. He is especially interested in technology that enables ambitious creative projects—not technology for its own sake. The goal is ultimately to give artists more freedom to focus on the heart and soul of the work.
Queen has become a trusted partner for major filmmakers and studios, including serving as the sole visual effects partner on Obsession, Focus Features' most commercially successful film ever. His work has been recognized by the Visual Effects Society and Slate, which named him to its 30 Under 30.
He cares deeply about building companies that produce exceptional work while also being genuinely good places for talented people to work. Personally he enjoys weird music, construction projects, theoretical rabbit holes with friends, and seeing what weird plants will grow in the backyard.
