Pablo Lobato
Illustrator & Character Designer, Wendell & Wild, Netflix Animation
Pablo Lobato was born in Trelew, Patagonia Argentina on April 1970. He studied graphic design at Universidad Nacional de La Plata, where he also studied painting and engraving in fine arts. After his studies he moved to Buenos Aires to work as a graphic designer, working in editorial. After five years of working in this field, he decided to give one more chance to his true passion: portraits. Represented by AnnaGoodson he started working as a collaborator in magazines and publications such as Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, Wired, New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, The Village Voice, among others. His work has been featured in Illustration Now Vol.3 and Portraits! by Taschen editorial and selected in American Illustration, Applied Arts and Communication Arts.
He has been featured in numerous collective exhibits across the world including Argentina, the United States, Italy, Chile and Portugal. In 2015 he held his own individual exhibit, the “Illustrissimo”, hosted by the Galleria D’Italia at the Palazzon Montanaro, in Vicenza, Italy. In 2015 he also published his first book “Pablo Lobato Illustration”, and later his second book, "Another Angle in Caricature". Currently he works from Buenos Aires for publications around the world.

Pablo Lobato is Character Designer for Wendell and Wild. He made more than thirteen thousand illustrations: athletes, rockers, actors, politicians, writers, comedians. Messi, Freddie Mercury, Manuel Belgrano, Riquelme, Bruce Lee, Calamaro, Fito Páez, Sandro, Kobe Bryant, Madonna, Néstor Kirchner, Spinetta, Bob Marley, Woody Allen.
He has worked for The New Yorker, New York Times, Wired, Los Angeles Times Magazine, The New Republic, Boston Globe, Texas Monthly. In Argentina, he illustrated the Rock Legends book for Rolling Stone magazine and collaborated with different newspapers and magazines. Born in Trelew, he traveled to La Plata to study Design in Visual Communication and to take some courses in Plastic Arts. He moved to Buenos Aires and there was the explosion that led him to illustrate some of the most important newspapers in the world. He also worked outside journalism: Nike, Ritzenhoff, Monterey Jazz Festival or El Abrazo. His work has been published in Taschen's Illustration Now and Portraits, in Communication Arts, American Illustration and Applied Arts Magazine.
