Jony Chandra
Director, Baobab Studios
Jony Chandra is a Director at Baobab Studios. Prior to joining Baobab, he had a tenure of fifteen years at Blue Sky Studios as a Story Artist, then Head of Story, and Director in Development. Jony’s many contributions at Blue Sky included several films in the Ice Age and Rio franchises, as well as the award-nominated films Peanuts the Movie and Ferdinand. As a Head of Story and Director, Jony always tries to inspire and encourage collaboration and inclusion. His eagerness to both teach and learn from his peers and other artists spurred him to help create a story mentorship and internship program at Blue Sky. These programs gave students and recent graduates the opportunity to learn and experience working in a large studio environment. Jony taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He helped to develop their curriculum for Story and Visual Story classes under the Computer Animation Graduate Program. Jony grew up in Indonesia. At the age of 20, he moved to the US to pursue his life-long dream of being an artist. He completed his Bachelor degree in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
