Agata Soncini

Agata M Soccini, PhD, is a Researcher and Professor in Computer Science, as well as Head of the Virtual Reality Lab at University of Torino.
She was educated in Europe, at University of Milano and Torino, in California at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, and spent her PhD years in Tokyo at the National Institute of Informatics of Japan.
Her work takes place in the intersection between science, technology and art.
It includes virtual reality systems for experimental projects of the European Space Agency, artistic productions exhibited in some of the major Italian contemporary art museums, such as Fondazione Prada and GAM, studies on the representation and perception of virtual humans and self-avatars in virtual reality, pre-visualization and visual effects for movies and commercials.
She is author of several scientific publications in international journals and conferences, including Siggraph and Siggraph Asia, and her PhD thesis was awarded one of the five best at Siggraph 2020. She is in the Scientific Committee and Board of Directors of several international associations and conferences, including Siggraph London Chapter.
