Enrico Casarosa, Director
Enrico Casarosa joined Pixar Animation Studios in January 2002. He began as a story artist on “Cars” before moving on to work on the Academy Award-winning feature films “Ratatouille” and “Up.” He made his directorial debut with the Academy Award®-nominated short film, “La Luna,” which screened theatrically with “Brave” in 2012. He then went on to work on “The Good Dinosaur” and the Academy Award®-winning feature “Coco.” Casarosa then turned his sights to his own feature film, and is currently directing Disney and Pixar’s “Luca,” which is set to release on Disney+ on June 18, 2021.
Casarosa found early influences in Hayao Miyazaki’s work and grew up watching Miyazaki’s television series in Italy. Born and raised in Genoa, Casarosa moved to New York City in his twenties, to study animation at the School of Visual Arts and Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Before coming to Pixar, Casarosa worked as a storyboard artist at Blue Sky Studios on “Ice Age” and “Robots.” He also worked as a background designer and storyboard artist for a number of Disney Channel Television Series’ including “101 Dalmatians” and “PB&J Otters.”
Casarosa currently lives in Berkeley, CA with his wife, daughter, and three chickens.
Andrea Warren, Producer
Andrea Warren joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1998, when she began as a marketing production assistant on “A Bug’s Life.” She then moved on to be an art department coordinator for the Academy Award®-winning feature, “Monsters, Inc.,” and served as a digital painter for another Academy Award-winning feature, “Finding Nemo.” Warren accepted her first managing role on the Golden Globe®-winning, “Cars,” when she acted as the art department manager. Next, Warren stepped up to production manage Academy Award-winning features, “WALL•E” and “Brave.” Warren made her producing debut with the short film, “LAVA,” and went on to co-produce the feature film “Cars 3.” She is currently the producer of Disney and Pixar’s upcoming feature “Luca” which is set to release on Disney+ on June 18, 2021.
Prior to Pixar, Warren interned on the Walt Disney Pictures feature, “James and the Giant Peach,” and was a web editor for JavaSoft.
Warren attended Westmont College, a liberal arts college in Santa Barbara. She grew up loving the art of story telling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and drew early inspiration from Babar books, the Muppets and Star Wars.
Warren currently lives in Alameda, CA with her husband and two children.
Daniela Strijleva, Production Designer
Daniela Strijleva joined Pixar Animation Studios in 2008. She has worked on several projects including the Academy Award®-winning features “Toy Story 3,” “Coco,” and “Toy Story 4.” She also worked on “Monsters University,” “The Good Dinosaur” and “Onward,” in addition to several short films including Academy Award® nominees “La Luna” and “Day and Night.” Strijleva is currently the Production Designer on Disney and Pixar’s upcoming feature film “Luca,” which is set to release on June 18, 2021.
As a production designer, Strijleva oversees a team of artists and designers in creating the visuals for the film based on the director's vision. The art that she manages touches all aspects of the production, beginning with the characters and their stories to the environments, graphics, effects, lighting and color design. Strijleva collaborates with her technical counterparts in the final execution and translation of these ideas to the screen.
Prior to Pixar, Strijleva was part of the Canadian animation industry, working in 2D animation for TV commercials and at the National Film Board of Canada.
Spending her early childhood in Bulgaria, Strijleva moved with her family to Montreal, Canada and was an avid film lover from an early age. She went on to study classical animation at Sheridan College in Toronto before moving to the United States.
Deanna Marsigliese, Character Art Director
Deanna Marsigliese is a Character Art Director at Pixar Animation Studios. Since joining the studio in 2012, Marsigliese has contributed designs to Academy Award©-winning films such as “Inside Out,” “Toy Story 4,” and “Soul,” as well as “The Good Dinosaur,” “Finding Dory,” “Incredibles 2,” and “Onward.” Marsigliese acted as both Character Art Director and Animation Sketch Artist Lead on Disney and Pixar’s upcoming film “Luca,” set to debut on Disney+ on June 18, 2021.
As a Character Art Director, Marsigliese establishes the look and feel of the films’ characters, overseeing their design from initial concept through to final packet and model. In collaboration with the story team, Marsigliese translates a character’s personality into a unique visual language, then works alongside talented modelers to ensure said language reads as dynamically as possible. Finally, as an Animation Sketch Artist Lead, Marsigliese partners with the animators to ensure that this visual language translates seamlessly into movement.
Prior to Pixar, Marsigliese freelanced as a 2D character animator and character designer on a wide variety of film, television and commercial projects. She has also served as the Professor of Classical Animation at Seneca College in Toronto, Canada for six years and continues to lead workshops worldwide.
Marsigliese studied Classical Animation at Sheridan College, as well as 3D Animation at Seneca College, both located in Toronto, Canada. She currently resides in San Francisco, CA.
David Ryu, Supervising Technical Director
David Ryu joined Pixar Animation Studios in 2001. After working as a graphics software engineer in Pixar’s tools department, David has since worked in a variety of capacities on multiple Academy Award®-winning feature films. He worked as a character shading artist on 2003’s "Finding Nemo," as a crowds technical director and on global technology for 2007’s "Ratatouille,” and as a crowds technical director for 2008’s "WALL•E." David also worked on global technology for the Academy Award®-winning feature "Up,” as shots sequence lead on "Toy Story 3,” and global technology supervisor on “Monsters University.” David supervised the effort to transition Pixar to a fully path-traced rendering environment on “Finding Dory.”
David served as supervising technical director for 2017’s Oscar®-winning feature film "Coco" and most recently held that same role on “Luca,” set to release on Disney+ June 18, 2021. As supervising technical director, David oversees all the technical artists and technical directors on the film, balancing visual, production, and technical goals.
Raised in Tustin, California, David was influenced by the "Star Wars" films and attended Harvard University, where he received his degree in 2001. While in school, he interned at Electronic Arts and Microsoft, where he briefly worked on Microsoft Word and Tiger Woods golf video games.
David currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his family.
Kim White, Director of Photography, Lighting
Kim White joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1997 as a part of the set modeling and lighting teams on “A Bug’s Life.” Since then she has worked on several feature films including “Toy Story 2” and “Monsters, Inc.,” and the Academy Award®-winning “Finding Nemo,” The Incredibles” and “Ratatouille.” White served as the Director of Photography, Lighting on the Academy Award®-winning features “Toy Story 3” and “Inside Out” as well as 2017’s “Cars 3.” Most recently, White served again as Director of Photography on the feature film “Luca,” set to release on Disney+ on June 18, 2021.
Prior to joining the studio, White worked at Sierra On-Line helping to create computer adventure games. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, and continued on to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for her Masters in Fine Arts.
Born in Georgia but raised in Lakewood, Colorado, White loved art from an early age and was inspired by classic Disney animated movies. As her love of art persisted she was encouraged by both her parents and high school art teacher to pursue art as a career.
She currently resides in Orinda, CA.
