Baobab Studios' mission as one of the leading studios in interactive storytelling is simple: To bring out your sense of wonder and to inspire you to dream — by making you, the audience, matter. The studio's head of content, Kane Lee, will share with the audience the journey of Baobab, from starting a studio that produced one of the biggest hits in the history of VR with its first project by daring to be different, to sharing the challenges his team faced in combining traditional handcrafted animation with their latest advances in character-based AI to create their most interactive work to date.
With each of its acclaimed productions, — "CROW: THE LEGEND" (starring John Legend and Oprah Winfrey), "BONFIRE" (starring Ali Wong), "JACK" (starring Lupita Nyong'o), "ASTEROIDS" (starring Elizabeth Banks), and "INVASION" (starring Ethan Hawke), Baobab has strived sought to push the boundaries of immersive storytelling with a character-driven approach. As a result, the studio has won 6 Emmy Awards, including an Emmy for Best Interactive Media for every qualifying project it's created, won both the 1st-ever and 2nd-ever Annie Awards for Best VR (the "Oscars" of Animation) as well as SIGGRAPH's 1st-ever Grand Jury Prize for VR/AR/MR, was named Fast Company's Most Innovative Company in 2018, and has been deemed "the Pixar of Virtual Reality" by many including The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
