VIEW Conference would like to announce the winners of the 2018 VIEW Awards.

The Internation Jury for the 2018 VIEW Awards was comprised of VIEW Conference Director Maria Elena Gutierrez, jury president and jury chair Barbara Robertson, Celia Bullwinkel, Glen McIntosh, Danielle Feinberg, Max Giovagnoli, Bill Watral and Carolyn Giardina.

2018 VIEW Awards

2018 VIEW Award for Best Short Film:

“La Noria,” a 12-minute, 3D animated horror film written and directed by Carlos Baena, produced by Sasha Korelis, and made as an online collaboration of international artists.

“La Noria” film tells of the struggle when finding yourselfin a dark place, that darkness isn’t always what it seems, and that with courage, you can turn something dark into something beautiful. The jury praised the film’s cohesive narrative, flawless production, gorgeous character and production design, and music, all of which have perfectly helped tell the story. Director Baena will receive the VIEW Award’s First prize. It comes with a 2000 Euros prize.

Jury Award for Best Student Film:

“Best Friend,” a 2018 graduation short film from Gobelins, l'École de l'Image directed by David Feliu, Varun Nair, Juliana de Lucca, Nicholas Olivieri, and YI Shen. The jury honors this 5 minute 46 second 2D/3D animated film for exploring timely issues with a well-supported story and a beautiful design aesthetic.

Special Jury Award:

The jury wants to acknowledge the film “Wild Love,” a 2018 graduation film directed by ENSI students Paul Autric, Quentin Camus, Maryka Laudet, Léa Georges, ZoéSottiaux, and Corentin. This well-directed 3D short made everyone on the jury laugh out loud all the way through the film’s seven minutes.
