Inkwo For When The Starving Return: Collective Lens: Stop Motion Storytelling
In this discussion, Amanda Strong will share her experience of directing a TV series, Independent animation and building a stop motion studio centered on collective Indigenous storytelling.
From idea and final product, Amanda will share the pathway and collaborative process of her latest most ambitious stop motion project - Inkwo For When The Starving Return, a 7 year co-production with National Film Board of Canada. Learn about the successes, barriers and magical slow art process of stop motion animation as a vessel for Indigenous stories and ways of working. Amanda will talk through the steps of making an independent project starting with the idea, to finding funding, building a dream team, the creative process and seeing the project through to the finish line. Strong will share aspects of her team's collaborative process including groundbreaking puppets, art direction, compositing and VFX.
