Caws & Effects: Wednesday Season 2
Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at visual effects from Tim Burton’s acclaimed WEDNESDAY Season 2. In this talk, the team at Rocket Science VFX will unpack the artistry and technical precision behind a wide scope of visual effects, with a focus on the unveiling of a new menacing character, One-Eye, and the murder of crows that accompany him in one of the show’s opening sequences.
From exploring the feather generation created with Houdini to the asset build, including a complex creature rig, and how animation cycles were developed, both in Maya, to bring individuality and menace to each bird. The team will also break down the flocking and crowd system created with Houdini, showcasing how agents were deployed to orchestrate large-scale, coordinated crow behavior with cinematic impact. Additional breakdowns will cover various effects, including how the team brought ‘Thing’ to life.
