Dr. Oliver Gingrich is the programme lead for the BA (Hons) Animation and the new MA programme for Creative Industries  (2027 onwards) at the School of Design & Creative Industries, University of Greenwich which forms part of LASE - London and South East University Group. He is an internationally recognised media arts practitioner, critical theorist and researcher. As the holder of an AHRC Research grant on participatory media arts and its effect on social connectedness and public health, Dr. Oliver Gingrich is exploring the intersection between public and artists through co-creation practices, creativity and wellbeing.  The p_ART_icipate research, developed with Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Brunel University and collaborators, has led to the publication of guidelines for ethical and accessible participatory practices for the arts in digital media, including  ethical data governance for digital creative health. As Professor for Animation at the University of Greenwich, his key research interest areas are Digital Creative Health, Holographic Projection, and Participatory Presence.

With the art collective Analema Group, he exhibited at the Tate Modern, National Gallery and Ars Electronica Festival. He is currently nominated for the Lumen Prize 2026 for the work Zeitgeist: Decolonising AI created with his long-term collaborator Dr Shama Rahman. 

On the BA Hons Animation, Oliver launched the Animation Industry Partner Network, successfully contributing to key KPIs of the programme including on employability.
