Dimitri Vallein is a French filmmaker and real-time director known for creating cinematic animated films blending philosophical science fiction with cutting-edge 3D technology. A rising voice in the new wave of creators using real-time 3D graphics software like Unreal Engine, Dimitri has been celebrated for his short films New Specimen and The Last Star, which have garnered acclaim in over 40 international festivals.
He first gained global attention as an early AR creator. His augmented reality filters, viewed over 500 million times and used by artists like Dua Lipa, leveraged mobile platforms as artistic engines long before spatial computing went mainstream. He later led the development of Oktogone, a 3D game featured at major events like Ultimate Fighting Arena and Les Ardentes Festival. He was recognized by Meta as one of the world’s top 100 AR creators.
In 2024, he collaborated with Balaji Srinivasan to develop real-time visual storytelling for futuristic concepts fusing technology, philosophy, and civilization-building.
