Stephen James
VFX Supervisor, Dune: Part Two, DNEG
Stephen James is an Emmy Award-winning VFX Supervisor at DNEG Vancouver. Having previously worked as a DFX Supervisor on Denis Villeneuve’s Academy Award® winning ‘Dune: Part One’, Stephen recently continued his work with Villeneuve on the critically acclaimed sequel, ‘Dune: Part Two’ as VFX Supervisor overseeing a global VFX team across 1000 shots. Additionally, Stephen was recently supervising some of DNEG’s work on George Miller’s ‘Furiosa’.
Before this, Stephen supervised VFX work on ‘The Last of Us - Season 1’ for which he received a VES Award for ‘Outstanding Visual Effects In a Photoreal Episode’ and an Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In a Season or a Movie’. Prior to this, he worked as a VFX Supervisor on David Leitch’s action film ‘Bullet Train’ and as on set and DFX Supervisor for ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw'.
Stephen comes from Vancouver, Canada and started his career at DNEG London in 2005. He comes from a compositing background and throughout his career has focused on advancing and training the art of compositing. He last served as Compositing Supervisor on the Academy Award® winning ‘Blade Runner 2049’.
