Learn about the fundamentals of Virtual Production and LED Wall shoots with real project examples and in class exercises. We will cover Previsualization, scanning sets and props with meshes and Gaussian Splats, using assets from asset stores, AI Mocap, using real time engines and lighting. We will use Camera tracking to shoot a test scene over an HDTV standing in for an LED wall.

Virtual Production principles
Assets: Stores, downloads, FAB Unreal store, Unity Asset Store
Students download their assets after coming up with a story.

Virtual Production assets
Scanning: Polygons, Gaussian Splats
Students scan objects from the room

Camera tracking use cases
Films: Fallout, Star Trek: Discovery
Use of camera tracking
Maya: Cleanup of assets, scans

Engines: Unreal/Unity setup, importing assets.
Engine Lighting

AI Mocap: Radical Motion collaborative Motion Capture using a webcam

VCam camera tracking: iPhone and iPad Apps.
Shooting a test scene in front of an HDTV standing in for an LED wall.
