Rhys Salcombe
VFX Supervisor, Dune: Part Two, DNEG
Rhys Salcombe is an award-winning VFX Supervisor at DNEG Vancouver. Following his exceptional work as CG Supervisor on ‘Dune: Part One’, which earned him a VES nomination for ‘Outstanding Created Environment in a Photoreal Feature’, Rhys recently returned to the Academy Award® winning Denis Villeneuve franchise as VFX Supervisor for the critically acclaimed sequel ‘Dune: Part Two’.
Prior to this, Rhys worked as DFX Supervisor on David Leitch’s ‘Bullet Train’, Sony Pictures’ World War II drama ‘Greyhound’, and ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’. Rhys was also 3D Supervisor for the massive Los Angeles environments of ‘Blade Runner 2049’ - the Academy, BAFTA and VES award-winning sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic - and won the 2018 VES Award for ‘Outstanding Created Environment in a Photoreal Feature’ for his work on the film.
Rhys has been with DNEG since he graduated from Swansea Institute of Higher Education with a first-class honours degree in 2006. Since then, he has enjoyed a highly successful career comprising of work on more than 20 feature films, including leading and supervisory roles on features such as ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Godzilla’, ‘Spectre’ and ‘Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.’
