Creating The Spider-Verse: Developing Stylized Looks

Making the first feature length animated Spider-Man movie was a big responsibility.  From the very beginning, one of the goals of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was to push the boundaries of contemporary animation and storytelling.  In order to achieve this, every department was asked to reconsider their approach and pipeline in order to find new looks. 

This presentation focuses on the look development, lighting and compositing. It will explore the philosophy that allowed artists the freedom to "break the rules" and create innovative tools and techniques to achieve the stylized look of the film.
