Young Nick Fury and Digital De-Aging in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can span many decades, and with so many interconnected characters and plotlines, digital de-aging has allowed filmmakers and audiences to see characters interact with each other at many different points in their lives.As a VFX Supervisor with Lola VFX, Trent Claus has been at the forefront of digital de-aging and cosmetics for the last 12 years. He’ll discuss his team’s work on this year’s “Captain Marvel”, in which Samuel L. Jackson’s character “Nick Fury” was de-aged 25 years for the entire length of the film.He’ll also discuss their work in other Marvel films, including “Skinny Steve” from Captain America: The First Avenger”, “Vision” from the Avengers films, de-aged characters played by Kurt Russell, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Lawrence Fishburne, and Robert Downey Jr., as well as “old” Captain America from Avengers: Endgame.
