Using various mediums we will discuss the visual language of posing an animated character. Including shape, line of action, negative space and more. We will also explore how one pose interacts with surrounding poses. Using opposing action and weight distribution to create a dynamic relationship from pose to pose. Next we will consider the best way to stage a character; how to direct the audience’s eye within the frame, and across a cut. Finally we will apply these principles to the use of thumbnail drawings to plan a characters performance.
