Storytelling and Sustainability with Special Screening of ReRooted

Can a film about sustainability be made sustainably?

Join co-director and writer Delphine Coudray for a special screening of ReRooted, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this darkly comic animated short. We will discuss the questions of sustainability that shaped both its story and its production.

From handmade paper sets and stop-motion to digital 2D, live action and pixelation, ReRooteddeliberately embraces a tactile, imperfect aesthetic. Delphine will explore how the team tried to make the message and the making of the film speak to the same values, and the creative challenges, compromises and discoveries along the way.

The conversation will then expand beyond the film, to the wider animation industry, drawing on Delphine’s work with Animation Ireland and its dedicated Sustainability Committee, as well as collaborations with Anim’France and Ecoprod on the Carbulator and Animpact programmes.

A film, a making-of, and a wider conversation about how the stories we tell, and the way we make them, can help shape a more sustainable future."
