Season 2 of Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender brought new elemental challenges to the RodeoFX team. In this session, VFX Supervisor Julien Hery focuses on two of the season's standout FX accomplishments. First, he'll break down earth banding, a bending variant requiring rock and soil to play together and snap into projectile forms while retaining a sense of raw physical weight. Julien will cover the look development and simulation pipeline built to deliver consistent results across all shots. He'll then dive into the signature FX developed for Toph Beifong, whose seismic sonar vision demanded a bespoke setup to translate her earth-sense into a compelling, character-defining visual, one that had to feel both otherworldly and immediately readable on screen.
