From Sketch To Screen: LAIKA'S Hand-Drawn Artistry

Every LAIKA film begins with a single image.  Drawn by hand by some of the world's most talented artists.  At the onset and guidance of the production design, LAIKA artists put pen to paper and that defining moment sets the stage for the look and feel of the film.  At the forefront is the storyboard artist.

In this one hour session, LAIKA's Emanuela Cozzi will provide a glimpse behind the scenes of the handmade process at LAIKA, where visual artists collaborate with multiple departments, from 2D, to 3D, to the astounding fusion of stop-motion and visual effects.  In addition to discussing the roots of her artistic career, from college to present, Emanuelawill share never-before-seen side-by-side videos of  her storyboards realized to final animation.  The presentation will help define the world of LAIKA before animators breathe life into handmade puppets and props.  A Q&A will follow the talk.
