New and exciting technologies are emerging that have the potential completely transform the way that we interact with the world. From virtual reality to advanced robotics, our world is becoming more technologically advanced each day. While the entertainment industry has been thriving with the increased accessibility of new technologies, the practice of healthcare has not been significantly transformed by this technological revolution. With the developed world aging at an unprecedented rate, we are in desperate need of fresh perspectives and new approaches that will help us to deal with the upcoming healthcare crisis. In this presentation, I will show you how we are using some of the newest technologies to create innovative care solutions for some of the most under-served populations on the planet. We will discuss the idea that we should view the concept of wellness as part of a spectrum, and what we can learn about wellness from elite athletes as well as our sickest patients. Finally, I will demonstrate the singular power of story-telling in all that we do: how it can raise awareness for those in need, and inspire us all to meaningful action.
