Cinematography for Stylized Motion Pictures
Get ready for a deep dive into the world of Stylized Cinematography! In this workshop, Christos Obretenov will take you behind the scenes of three standout projects: The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Across the Spider-Verse, and Cars on the Road. He'll share examples from both new and past work, showing initial concept art for the projects and how cinematic focus, lighting, and composition come together to create striking visual styles in Stylized animation. You'll see how techniques like Linework, Painterly, and Illustrative styles are brought to life from concept art to the final frame, all driven by lighting and camera.
To bring it all home, Ernst Janssen Groesbeek will give a live demo on how to achieve these looks using tools like Katana and Blender. You'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the demo, and we encourage you to bring your own examples for feedback and workflow insights. Ernst will walk you through best practices, showing how flexible these tools are for projects of any size. This is a great chance to see the workflow behind these captivating styles in action and get personalized advice on your own work.
