I will be doing a six-hour workshop on how I develop, visualize, and draw my sequential art stories. I’ll be using the examples of Kitty Cat and Manly Man with the idea that the principles involved can be applied to any type of sequential art.

The way I approach this is by thinking of creating a world first, so there is a world-building portion to the exercise. I also think in terms of blocking out time, thoughts, and acting, and I will talk about this process as well.

I’ll board out the whole story, which will lead me to discuss the sketching process, different ideations, and picking the right shot. Finally, I’ll paint the strip and make any final color adjustments needed so the audience can see and understand what is going through my head when I am working on these.
