Politecnico of Torino
Fabrizio Valpreda was
born in Turin the 26 of august 1967.
He became architect in 1996, in Politecnico di Torino.
There he took the road of digital communication in architecture
and design in late 80's.
Researcher in Industrial Design from 2005 he teaches in the
Corso di Studi in Disegno Industriale, Facoltà di Architettura
1, Politecnico di Torino.
He is teacher and project leader in one of the virtuality
modules in Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Design del Prodotto
Ecocompatibile, Facoltà di Architettura 1, Politecnico
di Torino. He likes and plays tennis, loves and drives his

Open Source &
navigazione real-time
One of the most important value in the digital
approach to planning is the chance to explore what we have
in mind about the project itself.
3D modelling offers different tools to reach this aim, however
it is very complicated creating user-friendly navigable virtual
environments.
Commercial software are often so difficult to use, very expensive
and they create some problem in the management, especially
in the academic world.
Open source philosophy offers different tools to produce what
we have in mind, 3D included.
Blender is a tool that has everything needed to produce this
kind of results: modelling, rendering, lighting, texturing
and stand-alone realtime navigation tools for every operative
system in commerce.
This whole process is possible with Blender with an extremely
easy procedure, with no programming skills needed, letting
architects/designers’ minds free to focus on their final
project.
