Parag Havaldar

 

Lead R&D Engineer

Havaldar is a lead R&D engineer responsible for creating in-house proprietary solutions for performance capture projects and 3D stereoscopic projects.
At Imageworks, he has developed technical solutions for facial animation, body animation and character setup that have been effectively used on a variety of Imageworks projects including the Academy Award® nominated Monster House and the recent blockbuster Spider-Man™ 3.
Having completed work on Beowulf, he is currently working on Hancock.
Havaldar holds a PhD in computer vision.


Creating Compelling Character Animation

Sony Pictures Imageworks continues to advance the art of performance capture, improving the technology and its artistic applications over the course of many projects.
Imageworks’ most recent performance capture project is director Robert Zemeckis’ vision of the Beowulf saga.
Parag Havaldar will explain core technological achievements that have led to some of the efficient and scalable solutions that have been developed to animate numerous digital characters.
