from its beginning EDI took a series of very particular decisions
which were considered atypical and against common practice
by the competition: From its Operating System (EDI runs Linux)
to the type of specialization required to the staff (whereas
abroad operators are required to develop an extreme specialization,
at EDI every individual rather grows professionally in such
a way as to be able to finish any assigned shot in its entirely),
to the choice on software (EDI doesn’t rely solely on
commercially available software).
All these its choices have enabled EDI through the years to
tackle films like Carnera involving more than1000 shots with
varying degrees of technical difficulty ranging from simple
Blue Screen to 3D crowd duplication for which we developed
a simple but very effective management system.
Today, EDI employs around 30 people including 2 System Administrator,
2 Producers and 3 On-liners.
