| James Clyne is a
Conceptual Artist for the film industry currently residing
and working in Los Angeles California . After studying Fine
Art and painting at the University of California at Santa
Barbara, he went on to study Industrial Design at Art Center
College of Design, where he focused on transportation design,
product design and entertainment design.
Since then, he's had the opportunity to work with companies
such as ILM, Warner Brothers,
Universal, 20th Century Fox,
Sony, and DreamWorks Studios
on such films as Transformers, War of the Worlds, X-Men 3,
Troy , Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Minority Report,
The Fountain, The Polar Express, and the upcoming latest installment
of Star Trek.

Conceptual Design and
the Digital Process
In this lecture James Clyne will cover the
basics of what is asked of a concept artist working in the
film industry today and how it pertains to the new digital
era. Starting with what personally influences his work such
as past films like Blade Runner to the paintings of Hieronymus
Bosch, James Clyne will cover the work flow of a concept artist
from ruff sketch to the final scene on film.
